Germany: Spruce log price index rising less steeply

AlternativtextIn June, the German producer price indices for spruce largely continued the upward trend they had since March, albeit at a slower pace. On average, the index rose by 3.3% compared to May to a level of 78.3 points. B-qualities recorded an increase of 1.1% to 79.9 points, to which 3 m lengths contributed with 1.8% to 81.5 points and 4/5 m lengths with 1% to 79.5 points.

However, C-logs did not stick to their course, but gave way. The index fell by an average of 2% to 69 points, with 3 m lengths falling somewhat more sharply with -4.6% to 73 points than the 4/5 m lengths with -1.5% to 71.4 points.

AlternativtextSpruce pulpwood gained 3.2% in June to a value of 51.5 points, giving softwood pulpwood a plus of 2.1% to 57.3 points, while pine pulpwood gained 1.5% to 67.9 Points and Douglas fir rose slightly by 0.7% to 54.1 points.

The spruce index rose by 21.6% year-on-year. B-qualities recorded an increase of 13%, to which 3 m lengths contributed with 13.2% and 4/5 m lengths with 8.9%. C-logs even gained an average of 24.3%, with 3 m lengths increasing by 25.2% and 4/5 m lengths by 24.6%. And the index for spruce pulpwood was 3.4% above the value for the same month last year.
