Sweden: Stock volumes of roundwood and wood chips up 26%

In Sweden, the total stocks of coniferous sawlogs, pulpwood and wood chips is estimated to amount 8.3 million m³ (cubic metres solid volume excluding bark) as at 30 September 2014, according to the latest figures of the Swedish Forest Agency. An increase by 26 percent compared with the same time frames as last year.

Stock volumes of coniferous sawlogs is estimated to amount 3.2 million m³. Compared with same time frame as last year this is a rise by 52 percent. The stock volumes of coniferous sawlogs increased in all wood balance regions.

The total stocks of pulpwood amounted to 4.1 million m³ as at 30 September 2014, which is a rise by 9 percent compared to the same time frames of the year before. As per assortment pulpwood stocks was: 2.8 million m³ of mixed coniferous, 0.4 million m³ of spruce and 0.9 million m³ of broadleaved. The stocks of broadleaved pulpwood declined by 22 percent, while the stocks of coniferous mixed increased by 28 percent.

The stock volumes of wood chips is estimated to amount 1.0 million m³. This is an increase by 39 percent compared to 30 September 2013.
