Price Increases for MDF and OSB Inevitable

Production costs of wood processing companies are rising. This fact applies to both the production of oriented strand boards (OSB) and of medium density fibreboards (MDF). Even for raw particle boards price increases are inevitable. Last but not least in the decorative melamine coated panels, prices show an upward tendency. At the same time, there are still long delivery times in decorative and uni papers.

The transportation costs for lumber and wood products are rising. Freight space is becoming short, after bankruptcies and strong capacity cuts in the freight forwarding business. Rising fuel costs, toll fees, tightening emission standards and changing consignment flows exacerbate the situation. To curb the escalating costs, the woodworking industry is working on alternative forms of transportation - such as the transport by train.
