In Norway, a total of 10.4 million cubic metres of industrial roundwood were cut for sale in 2016. This represents an increase of 186,000 cubic metres as compared with 2015. In the same period, the average price decreased by 4 percent.
According to Statistics Norway, the gross value of timber sold to Norway processing industry amounted to NOK 3.4 billion (EUR 384,4 million). This is about the same level as in 2015. Forest owners got an average of NOK 325 per cubic meter in 2016 (EUR 36.74), which is 4% less than the year before.

Increased logging in Hordaland and Oppland
Hordaland and Oppland regions in Norway increased the amount of wood harvested by 96,000 and 64,000 cubic meters compared to 2015. The largest decrease in the amount of wood harvested was in Østfold with 56,000 cubic meters less than a year ago. Hedmark is still the region that felled the most wood with a total 2.8 million cubic meters. This represents 28 percent of all fthe felled wood in Norway in 2016.
Lower roundwood exports
Preliminary statistics from the Norwegian Statistics Office shows that 3.5 million cubic meters of roundwood were exported in 2016. This is 500,000 m3 less than in 2015 and represents 34 percent of the total harvesting.
