Egger expands capacity in Lower Saxony
28/08/2007 - 09:19

The new lamination line in Gifhorn started production at the end of July, one month earlier than planned. The company's production capacity in Lower Saxony is now 25 percent higher than before. The new line in Gifhorn has created 20 new jobs.

As part of the ongoing largest investment programme in the company's history, Egger has invested around five million euro in the Gifhorn plant. The new lamination line will increase the plant's laminate capacity, which already stands at more than 18 million m2, by a quarter to over 22 million m2. A new dispatch centre with a covered floorspace of 2.000 m2 has also been erected, and the loading and unloading area has been re-roofed.

The new 50 bar machine from Hymmen means that production will not be the only thing that increases. Egger is taking a major step towards securing the future of the plant in Gifhorn. "By increasing capacity, we are ensuring that we will be able to meet the huge demand for laminate in the longer term", explains Monika Wiora, Sales Manager at Gifhorn. Thanks to the internationalisation of the Egger group, sales of laminates (especially in Central and Eastern Europe) have increased substantially. The new production line will enable Egger to offer its materials and decors to these new, rapidly growing markets.

The Egger EUROFORM laminate produced in Gifhorn is used in a wide variety of industries, from furniture (mainly kitchen worktops), doors and automobiles to interior design and shipbuilding. EUROFORM laminates are also available in real aluminium, paintable, or extremely fire-resistant versions for demanding commercial structures and exhibition stands. Micro-perforated laminates from Gifhorn are also used in acoustic elements.
